How fast can I order a fire door?
When working with customers in Housing Association, Retrofit or Passive Fire Protection, one of the questions we most frequently get asked is ‘how fast can I order a fire door?’.
The answer depends on the type and specification of the doorset. For example, timber doorsets are typically available to order faster than steel doorsets, due to their ease of assembly. Steel doors are available with fast lead times, with some riser doors available with fast lead times, quantity and specification requirements depending. Our Quadra Doors are available with up to 12 working days* lead time, for certain quantities.
How bespoke the specification is outside what is stocked with the manufacturer will also influence how quickly a doorsets can be ordered, as waiting on supply will extend lead times.
In addition, the quantity of doorsets will also be a key factor, as if the manufacture has to rely on getting more stock from suppliers to create the doors, then this will cause delays to the lead times.

A common challenge we experienced in the timber door market that affected lead times was door size. Most manufacturers have to make the door to fit the structural opening which causes the lead time to be longer and does not allow for any on-site adjustability, meaning if the structural opening changes onsite, then more delays will be caused to fix the issue.
This is why we launched our adjustable architrave to increase the speed of lead times and reduce the risk of change, perhaps the biggest reason for delayed projects and increased costs. We have a range of stocked sizes which can be adjusted on-site by 20mm either side with the adjustable architrave, to fit any structural opening width!
